Good Luck Jorge!Jorge Nuñez is the underdog of American Idol 8. He's a 21-year-old college student from Cidra, Puerto Rico. Jorge has had consistently great performances and the judges have told him that "You were born to sing... You have the gift of touching people when you sing because it comes from your heart". When Ryan Seacrest was interviewing Jorge on his radio show Ryan read a text message from Marc Antony, "…please tell Jorge that Jen [Jennifer Lopez] and I couldn’t be prouder…we were in tears witnessing…pure talent." One of Jorge's biggest musical influences is Luis Fonsi. Puerto Ricans often proudly identify themselves as Boricuas, to show their recognition of the island's original Taíno heritage. The word Boricua has been popularized in the island and abroad by people of Puerto Rican heritage who commonly use the phrase, "Yo soy Boricua" ("I am Boricua", or "I am Puerto Rican") to identify themselves as Puerto Ricans. Jorge has many proud fans in Puerto Rico and all across the United States that admire him for his talent, passion, charisma, and his incredible voice. Being a Boricua is something that gives Puerto Ricans a sense of pride and identity, so it is an appropriate nickname for anyone who is a fan of Jorge and has great respect and admiration for Puerto Rico.
