i actually like Kris better than Adam tonight. The way he sang the last song was more pleasant to listen. But it was bad, Kris tried his best, but he just couldnt do anything with that song.

I think Adam better win this thing. I dont want to watch Kris sing that song again.

You are so right!  What a horrid song.  Ugh, I feel bad for both Adam and Kris for having to sing that thing in front of so many people.  Kara should be embarrassed!

Adam Lambert is the winner.

The last song co-written by Kara was not that great.  I tried to like it.  I even thought the song was more suited for Kris' voice than Adam's...neither fitted the song.  They should have been given the choice to change the arrangement to their own styles.  Perhaps that would have helped.

This happened before with David Cook and David Archuleta.  The coronation song fitted David A. more.

This happened with Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.  The coronation song fit Jordin.

This happened with Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks.  The coronation song fit Katharine.

The coronation song doesn't seem to affect who the winner is going to be.  People, I think, accept the cheesyness of it....reluctantly.

In the end, the coronation songs need to be let go.  I love the idea of singing the other contestants song.  Great idea!

Maybe have the prior year's winner sing the coronation song at the start of the final 12 and let us hear it a few times afterwards to at least be familiar with it.

I think Kris might win this, I thought he was pretty good and preferred most of what he did over Adam. A Change is Gonna Come wasn't NEARLY as good as the judges thought it was. The last song was a better fit for Kris and I liked his interpretation better, but he did seem to fumble the words and stumble a bit. Adam's version was equally a mess and less listen-able.

Since no one has done it here, I am calling Kris Allen as the winner. That will cause plenty of griping at the watercooler on Thursday.

Even though Adam should be the next American Idol, I actually think that Kris may have won.....Danny's votes had to go somewhere and I think that's who got them.....

I believe Adam had better performances last night, but I'm looking at the math......

They forced Kris to sing with a higher key, didn't they?

The last song should have been sounded much better for Kris if key was lowered.

I'm actually nervously excited!!  Wee-hee!  It's gonna be SOOOO close.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to tonight's finale because it's sure to be better than last night's show.

But I must say, this was probably the most entertaining finale I've seen in all 8 seasons.

You didn't get the feeling that it was subdued and slightly anti-climactic?  I mean, I'm remembering past seasons final performances, like Clay Aiken's soulful "Bridge Over Troubled Water," complete with a choir, after which Simon nearly crowned him the winner.  Or, how about Fantasia making "I Believe" her own?  Simon's response - "Fantasia, that was your acceptance speech."  Or, consider Bo Bice's "In a Dream" - done completely without music, for a more meaningful impact?  And, let's not forget the Davids' tears - Archie's after "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," and Cook's after "The World I Know."  Those were all moving performances.

I just got the sense that Adam and Kris were tired and really not into it.  Sadly, no one wanted to judge them on that coronation song.  Tsk, tsk, tsk....

For once I hope we all listen to Kara (that'll happen) - and people will vote for Kris for his entire season.  But - if Adam wins it's not like Kris was losing to someone with less talent than his.

This is true.
