I want to understand a simple concept. I read so many posts saying in past seasons and this season they pick their favorite "EARLY". All the fan listings for all those singers we have heard only for maybe 1 minute or less? Do others hear their music somewhere else? Is it just personal friends who create these "fan listings"? It seems like a junior high sort of thing where you meet someone and instantly you either like them or you hate them. This was a bad example but how can anyone have a "favorite" early on (before Hollywood week)? Picking a Favorite early just confuses me.
Sometimes you just hear their voice, and you know straight away that they're the type of artist that you'll enjoy. I knew from Cookies and Chris's auditions, and this year my favorite hasn't even been shown yet. But if you search around you can usually find music from a lot of the contestants, so that's another thing that helps.

Everyone already knows how impressed I was with Anthony's audition. Elliott was great too, but neither had music on line that I could play. Some people can actually watch the contestants singing, but my computer won't allow me to do that. So, that's why some have already picked out their favorite. There are 5-6 I have no idea how they sound. Hollywood week should take care of that! I hope. GrammyPam, I think Phil had an awesome audtion with his wife going into labor while he was in line. He had such a gorgeous voice! Like yourself, during the show, I was not impressed with Jordin and wondered if football fans were voting for her. She has since improved. Season 6 was not up there as a favorite for me.
What the World needs now is love, sweet love. No, not just for some, but for everyone.

Usually I never have a fave this early on. The auditions left me feeling kind of lack luster about the talent, so I searched for music in various places. I heard four of Casey's songs and became an instant fan of his music. I can't really explain it, just loved what I heard. There are several others I'm checking out as well. I think others are doing the same thing, finding someone who interests them and searching online for their music.

Kari, since I started watching Idol, seaason 6 is the only season that I didn't care enough about to even watch most of the performances each week. I would leave the TV on, and just go in the room to watch Blake and Phil's, but that was it. I hope this season isn't anything like it.

I also like Lilly Scott (who also hasn't been shown) but I think the biggest surprise will be Aaron Kelly, the 16 yr old country singer. He's got an incredible voice.
Wonder why didn't they? Like her, she is interesting(with and without guitar). Unique voice & style
Aaron Kelly has good voice. Good singer, hopefully he has got performance too
Crytal Bowersox seems to be a really good singer as well
Sometimes a contestant auditions with a song the show doesn't have clearance on, so that could be why a few people still weren't shown. I agree with you about Lilly Scott. She has a very unique style and voice. Very creative music. She could make it really far this year, but I'm not sure mainstream America will embrace her. (hopefully they will)
I was a little disappointed with Aaron Kelly's audition.. Based on what i've seen of him Pre-Idol, he's a great singer and performer. Better than what we saw last night.
Also agree on Crystal Bowersox.. She has a very strong voice.
I, too, doubt it, the bit about her(Lilly Scott) getting the kind of support needed to make it far. Hopefully she does Still would be great if she could last longer. But by jove she is good. And fun Crystal Bowersox has some impressive pre-idol stuff and seems to be rather good artist. Still one can't tell what might just happen as it largely depends on votes I dont know much about country music but think Aaron Kelly might have the potential to be a dark horse in this competition if he has some great performances
It would help if they actually show Lilly Scott singing lol. It's really hard to get any support if they don't give airtime to a contestant.. Hopefully she'll be featured a bit in Hollywood. I love her original music, so if she could bring any of that style to AI, she'd have my vote.
I listened to some of Crystal's pre-AI music. She definitely has the voice to make it far. Like you said, it depends on votes. Some people vote for reasons other than voice, so I'm not sure if she has the "package", but to me she seems very talented.
I agree on Aaron Kelly too. He's definitely someone to watch as a darkhorse this year. I think he'd be able to handle the different genres well, even though he's mainly a country artist.

Annie, Phil's from my hometown That's one reason that he first caught my eye...or ear, but I did really like his voice. In the early rounds, he was more my favorite, but then later on, it became Blake. But one of my favorite performances from season 6 was Blaze of Glory, that he did on the week he got elimnated. I thought it was his best performance of the season. But I haven't really kept up with him since the season ended.

oh cool!!! Hahah when I heard Blaze of Glory I think of Phil (and then ben because of the skating video). You should definitely check out his Christian album (not as great as Candlefuse) but you might like some of the songs. I love them all and part of that reason was hearing him live at a small concert one day and on an assignment another day at a elementary school. haha, how weird was it to see him pop up on me without notice! Im not sure if he remembered me or not, but when I mentioned that I met him before he seemed to remember. but anyways, that is cool that you liked both of them. They were my fave guys that season.

My absolute favorite song from Phil (and one of my favorites of the season) was Blaze of Glory. He NAILED that song. Even though he went out... he did get to go down with a Blaze of Glory!! Not a huge fan, but I loved that performance. I bought it on Itunes and still listen to it a lot.
