    Kris update....

Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 07:39 PM PST [General]

Not to leave out Kris as I posted an update for Adam. Kris has his single out, "Live Like We're Dying" which is a catchy tune with pretty meaningful words.  RCA finally put out a very nice photo/cover for the single.  Kris looks so adorable! Rumor is the single may have been at #38, then went down the charts, but may be at #10 now (not sure what charts people are referring to specifically).  Others have posted that their local radio stations, including ones in Canada, are beginning to play the single so it should start climbing upwards for Kris! His full cd will come out on Nov. 17th.  Nice comments from producers and lyricists working with Kris on the material that is on that cd and Kris' musicial ability! I have read mixed posts about Kris fans concerned that 19E/RCA may not be promoting Kris.  Their concerns may or may not be valid, as it's a judgment call and time will tell.  I certainly hope they promote him well.  Many were concerned that his single, LLWD, was put up on Amazon, etc. with no "banner" and no photo/cover of him until today.  Some have also expressed concerns pinning the media coverage/attention Adam is receiving against Kris.  Still others have noted that Kris is getting more than adequate promotion from RCA but different promotion/media opportunities than Adam as they are really like apples and oranges.  RCA seems to have paired Kris with some heavy hitters in the music industry who know how to make a singer/artist successful.  The only thing I didn't quite understand is why Kris' first publicly released single was a cover of another group's song (The Scripts).  Rumor again was that Kris was unaware that he was doing a cover.  I thought that his first single should have been an original song but if it's successful I guess it doesn't matter.  Kris is a very talented young man, with a good head on his shoulders. He is a good musician who knows what works for him.  I hear that he is doing some of the writing of his songs which should be really good! If you can check out his cover shot for the LLWD single.  Very nice pic! Enjoy!

    Adam update...

Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 04:19 PM PST [General]

Big time media storm continuing for Adam today!  He read off nominations today for the AMA awards with Paula Abdul (who he hasn't seen since AI) and Snoop Dog.  He also was briefly interviewed on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.  Adam did a song for the upcoming movie soundtrack, 2012, starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet.  The song is called "Time for Miracles" and it is a power ballad seemingly showcasing Adam's voice/range.  Currently there is only a 29 second video of the song up on various sites of and another 1:29 second clip of that same 29 second clip and Adam talking about the song a little bit.  From the little clip I've heard, it's very good! Adam stated that this song will not be on his cd, due to drop on Nov. 24th.  It is a separate venture.  In addition, the TFM's song will not be like songs on his cd.  His cd will have dance/pop/electronic/glam and possibly a nod to classic rock on it.  He is covering a whole lot of genre.  Big risks often pay off big (but could also result in big failures).  People who are working with Adam are making very encouraging comments about his voice and range and the songs he is recording for his cd.  Brian May from Queen commented about the TFM song and seems to have been right.  Time will tell of course how the cd and TFM does.  Adam will also be performing a single from his yet to be named and released cd, at the AMAs!  In addition the music video for TFM will be the trailer in the upcoming Michael Jackson movie, This Is It.  That will give Adam, albeit timewise short, global exposure as the MJ movie will be released worldwide for a 2 week engagement.  The TFM song I believe will be fully released on Oct. 18th.  The AMAs I think are Nov. 22nd, two days before the release of his cd.  Adam may be performing again on tv for GMA in Nov. So fans, there was a lot of media today and good news all around for Adam!  Wishing him, and the other idols much success!

    Long, perhaps overdue, update ...

Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 07:17 PM PST [General]

Hi! Been a while since I posted anything on AI8.  Saw the show 2x.  Very good! Did the barricade M&G and the idols were very charming, sweet and kind for the five seconds I got to interact w/ them! Now it's time for their respective careers to take flight.  Hope they all do well!

By now most of you know that Kris (of course), Adam, Allison and Danny have been signed.  Kris' new single, (which may be a cover from Scripts) called "Live Lke We're Dying" is available for sale.  Was released apparently this past Sunday which is a bit unorthodox.  Apparently he is charting after only 2-3 days still under the top 100, but it's just the very beginning.  Song has a very nice message and catchy tune! Should do very well! Some potential buyers may be holding out to buy the full album.  Also, there hasn't been any real promotion, as Kris may be in London still, and both he and 19E are waiting until they fully promote the whole cd, not just one single.  The cd drop date is Nov. 17th.  Much luck to Kris! Kris also picked up a "Relly" award, given by Regis & Kelly as favorite "Newbie" on their show this year meaning favorite 1st time guest.  He beat out Cameron Diaz, and 2 other actors I believe. Cute.

Adam is working on his cd with some industry heavy hitters.  Seems like 19E is throwing big time $ behind him.  Some of his possible cd cover shots have floated around the net.  Good buzz for him from several sources.  His drop cd date is Nov. 24th.  For whatever reason, although Adam has not released any singles, nor named his upcoming cd, preorders for his upcoming cd are #1 on Amazon.  There are buzzings about a "special edition" (or two) but details as to what this really means are scant.  Adam also recorded a song, called "Time For Miracles" for the upcoming movie 2012.  It has not been released but Brian May of Queen heard the song when Adam was recording it and wrote very encouraging comments on his website about it.  May be a nod to classic rock vibe supposedly??

Allison is off and running as well.  She has been I believe in Sweden recording/meeting w/ big name songwriters/producers for her upcoming cd scheduled to drop on Dec. 1, I believe.  Supposed to be a pop/rock type of cd like Pink would make?

Finally Danny.  He got signed after the above 3 but was deservingly signed! He is w/ a division of a record company that is country.  He is apparently working with some big names as are the others but names more associated with country singers.  Should be a nice fit for Danny! No news on his drop date yet.

Ooops almost forgot about Matt.  Sorry Matt. As far as I know he hasn't been signed yet.  Many concert goers and reviewers wrote excellent reviews for him when he toured and even began this "sign Matt" campaign.  He tweeted that he is seemingly working with songwriters and is excited about this.  Hopefully he will be signed soon by a label. I've read mixed things about how many idols are usually signed each year and by whom.  I have read the # is usually about 2-4 idols but am not sure if that onlymeans the big name, 19E, label and it's divisions??? I believe Scott is working toward as they say an "indie" route.  Heard some minor buzzings about what Megan is doing; something about maybe writing? Not sure.  Haven't heard much on the others.  I know Michael did put out some tweeter that said he was surprised that his number of followers dropped after the tour ended.  Concert goers liked his personality as a show opener overall and some thought he should go the route of country music.  Haven't heard anything about Lil.  Please feel free to comment and/or add any news you've heard! Thanks!

    The first concert...

Monday, July 6, 2009, 07:46 PM PST [General]

Hi guys!  No I did not go to the first concert in Portland.  I just read 2 blogs on it though on this site.  Both agreed that the production team, sound mainly, did a poor job as the band overpowered the vocals.  That hopefully will be addressed and should be.  People pay to hear their idols' vocals, not to be drowned out by the band/sound.  Also one blogger wrote that the lighting wasn't well done and that too should be addressed.  That same blogger seemed a bit underwhelmed with some performers.  I did read a few professional reviews and they were very positive I am happy to say.  Interestingly, they did not point out the production issues which to me are important.  The general consensus was that the group overall did very nicely!  Even some other bloggers who may have not been at the concert but heard the videos and live cast thought they all did well. Also pointed out was that this year's concert was more of a contemporary feel, possibly due to the song selection, than years past which many pointed out had more of a rock/arena feel to it than this concert did.  A few pointed out how Megan looked very nice and picked songs that were good for her style vocals as she sang nicely.  Lil, some pointed out, did surprisingly well in their opinion, as she seemed to do better w/o the pressure of being judged in their opinions.  I didn't see many specfic comments about Michael although I believe someone said he had a nice personality and strong type of voice.  Scott seemed to also pleasantly surprise people who thought he did better than he did on t.v.!  He too seemed more relaxed, contemporary, and loose, according to them.  Anoop too, was a crowd pleaser and did one song that was more for the older folks and then did a couple, more contemporary songs which went over nicely.  Matt simply got great reviews which I was thrilled to see!  IMHO, he seemed to do better on the show when he sang with the group and was inconsistent only b/c his nerves got to him.  He is quite the talent and showed it to the crowd and reviewers!  People really rated him as one of the best they heard last night! GOod for him, now maybe he'll get signed? Allison simply got great reviews and every comment on her was that she rocked and will do great with her future! Many were surprised how young she truly is, but how her talent is that of a much more experienced singer!  She  was interviewed before the show and said she was feeling nervous/stage fright but she apparently worked it out! Danny was well received and I heard him and thought he sounded really good!  He has that nice, nice voice!  A few commented that he started to "preach" at the end of his set, which turned them off a bit, but I'm not totally sure of what really happened as some said he was talking about his deceased wife and others said he was praising Adam's appearance (next). Who knows?  Listening to the live, albeit very rough sounding feed, you could hear the audience going crazy as they knew Adam was to follow Danny.  The twittering spoke of the "roof being blown off the place" and how it was "deafening".  Some were concerned if the very high expectations on Adam were going to be realized.  Apparently from both the pro reviewers and the bloggers, the great, great majority feel he hit it out of the park!  His future continues to look bright.  Everyone was thrilled with the duet btw.  Kris was then to follow Adam of course.  Some, not most, commented it was a bit of a let down and that the production style benefited Adam, not Kris.  The pros however pointed out that they way Kris was introduced, and the way his set was orchestrated, was done perfectly to fit his style. (Kris and Adam are both great but are totally different artists).  From what I heard and saw, Kris sounded great and really got the crowd into it!  Yes, some felt he would do better in a more intimate venue, but again the pro reviewers thought he made this very large crowd/venue feel intimate which was to his credit!  His future seems bright too!  My concern and some others too was that the audience was going to give most of their so called love to Adam and not as much to Kris.  That would have been very unfortunate.  However, it seemed that the crowd showed Kris the love he deserved!  I was happy about that.  Some did point out that the only downside of Kris' set was the NB's song which wasn't about Kris but more about the song itself. Yes, some did write, including a few pros, that the crowd went the most crazy for Adam, but everyone got the love and support they should have!  Part of this OTT audience reaction to Adam,  was probably due to the type of set Adam delivered which had moments of "hype" for lack of a better word.  His fans are quite passionate..there's no denying that, but each idol had a lot of their fans' support which made for an excellent night out! This group really, really seems to be very deep in talent; possibly the most ever seen.  Let's wish them all a great tour, and a lot of success in whatever they choose to do!  I'm sure we'll be hearing from all of them!  Anyone going to the tour, please write in so we can get a real fan's perspective.  I'm not going until Aug.!  Looking forward to it! Have fun guys!
