Eben,  I was in junior high, growing up in Boston when I  first discovered Steven Tyler and a band called Aerosmith. I loved their music because it sounded so passionate and strong.  I didn't know that it was referred to as “blues/rock” I just knew I liked it.  "Dream On" was my favorite song then, and I'd wait around for the DJ to play it on the radio before I fell asleep at night. I still can’t believe it, but I turned 50 a few months ago and now live in the suburbia-on-steroids that is greater Cincinnati.  Although I still have great passion (I have a pass at Perfect North and still snowboard  as often as I can and will argue politics with whomever needs to be persuaded to my point of view) now that I am a mom, with a family and house to take care of, I have discovered…my sofa. At the end of a long day I look forward to hitting the sofa after dinner and that’s when I discovered…you. I was excited to watch the new season of “Idol” and thrilled to see such a well-mannered, well-spoken, clean-cut lookin’ kid representing my new hometown. I thought, “What a great job his parents did!” I loved that you were appreciative of the love and support of your mom and dad, friends, your school and your community. I liked your confidence, and your humility.  I really enjoyed your performances.  I loved what Jimmy said about you returning to the show and hope that any rules barring your return are changed.  I was very happy that Steven contemplated your progression in the music industry enough to offer advice.  You seem to have a lot of passion and a maturity beyond your years. I think you and the Blues will get along famously. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Good luck, Eben, to you and your family. Oh, and I’d like to pass on one thought/piece of advice I remember from a friend of mine at Berklee School of Music in Boston. He told me once that, “there are millions of people in the music industry that lay awake at night trying to think of ways to separate you…from your wallet.”  I happen to be a lawyer by profession and suggest that when the offers start pouring in, as I am sure they will, PLEASE review them not only with your parents, but with an attorney who SPECIALIZES In entertainment law, OK?  Now get out there and have a great life!! 

i know you won't give up, Reed! this is just a phase as you said it.  you're way talented and i do know that you'll be more successful!  too bad you're off the contest, but, hey, it's just a contest.  it doesn't mean it's the only road to this kind of industry.  with your talent, you'll get on top.  <3  hugs from the philippines

You are my Idol, Reed Grimm...I was shocked when Steven Tyler didn't call your name...you are the most talented, most musical, you have the most charisma, and so much fun to watch! I have been watching your videos on you-tube and I think you are amazingly diverse, and people didn't get the chance to see all that you can do...and you're a cutie-pie! Good luck...I know you will go far!!!  I keep thinking that by some miracle, Idol will realize their mistake, and call you back! Much love <3 Cheers!
