Well, let me start off first by saying, I love the new layout for the new season. I'm pumped. This is the first of my pre idol countdown series of blogs. Today's blog will feature my breakdown on David Archuleta's debut cd.
1. Crush - Great choice for the first single. The lyrics are very relatable, and his vocals, wow, this sets the tone for rest of the cd.
2. Touch My Hand - Another great song, very upbeat and cute. The lyrics are great and again his vocals rock. The music play very well into his tone of voice.
3. Barriers - Very well written, the lyrics are powerful and whoever wrote the lyrics deserves an award. David delievers a great vocal performance and this should be a single. I can really feel the emotion of the song just by listening to his voice.
4. My Hands - This is a nice song, the lyrics again are great even though it took me awhile to figure out he's trying to stop time. Very sweet and his vocals just make the song.
5. A Little Too Not Over You - Perfect choice for the second single. They lyrics and his voice really make the song. This could be a huge hit.
6. You Can - Very pretty, and it has some wedding moments in there. His vocals are smooth and cool.
7. Running - This is a nice song, his vocals are great as usual, I just don't see the song on radio, but this is a nice song to have on the cd.
8. Desperate - Should be a single, I just fall in love with these lyrics everytime I hear this song and his vocals soar and proves to be powerhouse vocalist. One of the best male vocalists ever on Idol.
9. To Be With You - Very beautiful, and Kara Dioguradi proves to not just a great song writer but a great singer as well. I first thought that it was Brooke singing background. The lyrics are beautiful and his voice, angelic.
10. Don't Let Go - The lyrics are great and I think that this may be the underdog of the whole cd, it could be a hit, but this is a song that may go by unnoticed by the radio media.
11. Your Eyes Don't Lie - The whistling totally reminds me of the song Dock On The Bay. This song should definetly be a single. The lyrics are cute and great all at the same time. Simon definetly inspired the egotistical line, I can tell that David listened to his advice. The vocals rock.
12. Angels - loved it the first time he sang it on the show and I'm loving it even more now that it's on his debut cd. His vocals just take over and brings the song life and when he hits those high notes, I fall even more in love with his voice. And those lyrics, Robbie Williams, incredible. I would love to see this song as a single. This song proves why he should have won Idol.
